Sivakumar Rangaraj, Technical Director, Barker Mohandas Middle East (BMME), sr@barkermohandas.com Sivakumar Rangaraj joined Barker Mohandas Middle East in 2015, and in 2020 become Technical Director with 16 years experience in the Middle East and India. Sivakumar has been involved in developing VT system designs for landmark projects such as Aykon City in Dubai, Burj Royale in Dubai, The Avenues Riyadh in KSA, Crescent Development in Baku, Hass Towers in Kenya, QIMC Tower in Qatar, Orient Square in Pakistan, and The Red Sea Development projects in KSA. His work includes elevator traffic studies, design reports, drawing details, engineering calculations, specifications, and also on-site observations for projects such as Damac Towers by Paramount in Dubai (4 @ 70-storey towers). He has studied and compared seismic protection for elevators and escalators based on ASME and EN Codes, and contributed in presenting this to Dubai Municipality.
Earlier, he led the product platform team for KONE India, where he provided system design support and engineering tool development support to the Global Product Management team in KONE Finland. He provided custom drawings for high-rise lifts, machine-room-less lifts, freight lifts, panoramic lifts, fire-fighting lifts, and performed calculations under EN81 codes for various projects globally.
He began his elevator career in 2005 as a design engineer at KONE Elevator India. Earlier, he was a technical trainer for CADD Soft Technologies in India, where he provided training in CAD 2D and 3D modelling software for mechanical engineers and students. Sivakumar holds a Bachelor degree in Mechanical Engineering and a higher degree in Master of Business Administration in Operational Research.
